Zimbabwe sees rapid rise in US tourist arrivals

Zimbabwe has seen a nearly six-fold increase in the number of tourists from the United States of America, rising from 18 756 visitors in 2021 to 109 959 in 2025, according to the southern African country’s tourism authority.
According to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), the US remains Zimbabwe’s largest overseas source market.
“This sustained growth underscores the strategic importance of the North American market,” the ZTA said.
This comes as Zimbabwe is participating in the Africa’s Eden Roadshow in Atlanta, US, as part of a targeted tourism engagement campaign across six cities in the country and two in Canada
Zimbabwe recorded strong growth in its tourism industry in the first quarter of 2026, with international tourism arrivals rising by 11 percent to 384,561 and receipts surging 14 percent to US$251 million during the period compared to 2025.
During the period, Americas arrivals went up one percent to 26,324 from 26,058 while Asia increased 26 percent to 25,334 from 20,163.
Europe numbers increased 23 percent to 37,824. Middle East was 19 percent up to 789 and Oceania 17 percent to 7,185.
