Econet InfraCo says its flagship property developments – Econet TechCity in Harare and the Victoria Falls Lifestyle Villas – have attracted strong market interest ahead of commissioning this quarter.
The infrastructure company said it has already received expressions of interest from prospective customers across several sectors, signalling strong demand for both developments.
“The company has already received expressions of interest from various sectors for both projects, indicating strong market uptake once the different units become available,” the company said in its inaugural quarterly trading update for the period ended 31 May 2026.
Econet TechCity is a planned US$1 billion smart city and technology hub being developed on an 800-acre site near Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
The mixed-use project is designed to accommodate technology companies, commercial enterprises and residential developments.
The Victoria Falls Lifestyle Villas project comprises 40 luxury villas, a 10-bed private hospital, a clubhouse and sports facilities on a 40-hectare site.
The two developments form part of PropertyCo, one of Econet InfraCo’s three integrated business pillars alongside TowerCo and PowerCo following the company’s unbundling from Econet Wireless Zimbabwe earlier this year.
During the quarter, the property division continued generating stable rental income while advancing preparations for the commissioning of the two flagship projects.
The company said the strong early interest reflects growing demand from corporate tenants, institutional investors and buyers seeking modern, technology-enabled property developments.
Econet InfraCo is also integrating renewable energy into its property strategy after commencing Phase One of a planned 100MW solar farm that will supply electricity to developments within Econet TechCity.
Beyond property, the company continued expanding its telecommunications infrastructure, deploying 90 new base station sites during the quarter to support rising demand for mobile connectivity.
It also accelerated the rollout of solar power systems across new and existing sites while deploying artificial intelligence technologies to improve operational efficiency.
“We expanded the use of AI to improve predictive generator maintenance, optimise fuel utilisation, and enhance infrastructure reliability,” it said.
“The phased rollout of our AI Fuel Manager has reduced energy consumption whilst improving availability and uptime. Our AI-enabled Remote Monitoring System and tower Digital Twin initiatives have continued to advance, increasing our technology efficiency.”
Looking ahead, the company said it will continue expanding its tower network, accelerate the rollout of renewable energy projects and advance the development of Econet TechCity and the Victoria Falls Lifestyle Villas as part of its integrated infrastructure strategy.
