Zimbabwe’s tobacco sales have reached $802,35 million, with a total 319,660,896 kg sold at an average $2.51 per kg since the beginning of the marketing season in March.
According to the Zimbabwe Tobacco Association (ZTA), flue-cured Virginia tobacco sales up to day 67 (10 June) stood at: auction 25,077,320 kg sold at an average $1.84 per kg; contract 294,583,577 kg sold at an average $2.56 per kg.
“Combined total sold to date were 319,660,896 kg at an average $2.51 per kg,” the association said.
“On this day 2025, 285,026,842 kg were sold at an average $3.36 per kg,” ZTA said.
This comes as the current tobacco marketing season is facing a severe crisis over average selling prices, which have plunged by more than 20 percent compared with last season’s, mainly due to global oversupply.
