Zimbabwe’s food production sector outpaced every other manufacturing subsector in job creation in 2025, recording a plus 16 percent net employment growth, according to the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI).
“Despite growth across several industries, food processing emerged as Zimbabwe manufacturing’s clear employment heavyweight in 2025,” it said.
The business body – representing the manufacturing and industrial sectors – said the food production sector also saw a strong growth in output and revenue.
“The hiring spree tracks with strong fundamentals: food production also recorded 18 percent growth in output and 19 percent growth in revenue,” it said.
During the period, wearing apparel recorded a net employment creation of plus seven percent, chemical products plus seven percent again, textiles plus six percent, while rubber and plastic products were plus five percent.
Wood and wood products recorded plus five percent.
