Zim tobacco sales reach 239,7 million kg

Zimbabwe has sold a total 239,748,249 kg of tobacco at an average USD 2.55 per kg since the beginning of the 2026 marketing season in March.
According to the Zimbabwe Tobacco Association, by day 49, Flue-Cured-Virginia tobacco figures stood at 16,201,142 kg sold at an average USD 1.84 per kg through the auction, while contract sales were 223,547,107 kg at an average USD 2.61 per kg.
“On this day 2025, 189,240,491 kg sold at average USD 3.38 per kg,” the Association said.
This comes as Zimbabwe’s tobacco sector is forecast to make record sales this year, with output expected to exceed 360,000 tonnes, driven mainly by smallholder farmers operating under contracts with Chinese firms.
The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board says Chinese companies now dominate Zimbabwe’s tobacco trade, accounting for approximately 60 percent of export value.
