Zimbabwe’s fuel prices have gone down following the implementation of higher ethanol blending ratios.
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera), in its latest update, said blend (E20) is now US$2.08 or ZiG52.37 per litre while diesel (50) is US$2.09 or ZiG52.53 per litre with immediate effect.
“The price of blend has also been reduced by the significant increase in the blending levels from E5 to E20,” the authority said.
In its previous fuel prices update early April, Zera increased petrol to US$2.23 per litre from US$2.17 in March, while diesel rose to US$2.11 per litre from US$2.05.
Zera said government has “prioritised security of supplies through market sensitive pricing and reduction of taxes to cushion consumers and the economy at large”.
“Government will continue with this thrust, therefore various mechanisms to ensure minimal impact to the economy as well as guaranteeing continuity of supply will be vigorously pursued,” it said. – TML
